David Carrier endorsed by the Columbian (10/8/08)
"You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who provides a greater contrast to blustery incumbent Don Benton than Democrat David Carrier... Carrier offers a harmonious attitude and a can-do spirit… [he] understands fiscal matters and health care issues, and he’s got the outreach capabilities to collaborate with legislators of both parties." The Columbian, October 8 2008
I look forward to having David Carrier join us in the Senate. His background in economics is ideal for the work we are doing on climate change and creating a new formula for school financing. He will be a strong voice for Southwest Washington in Olympia.
Senator Lisa Brown, Senate Majority Leader
David is one of those rare candidates who can see old issues through fresh eyes. He will bring a nonpartisan, no-nonsense perspective that is desperately needed in Olympia today.Senator Craig Pridemore, 49th Legislative District
As an economist, David Carrier knows the value of investing in our future. Whether it be education, transportation or health care; David is committed to providing leadership on the tough issues.Representative Deb Wallace, 17th Legislative District
David is a needed new and fresh voice for the 17th District voters. Our education system desperately needs attention and David brings the expertise of a educator to the discussion at a critical time. The stakes are high for our kids and our future and David can deliver for Washington and the 17th District.Representative Jim Moeller, 49th Legislative District
We enthusiatically endorse Dr. David Carrier for State Senator from the 17th Legislative District. A professor of Economics at WSU-V, he is well prepared to face the issues which will confront the next session of the Legislature. Carrier is hard working, conscientious, and reliable. He will attend all his committee meetings, keep his appointments with constituents and respond to their phone calls, read and understand the many reports and testimony he must evaluate. He will serve the people of Clark County with fairness and honesty.
Val and Dan Ogden, former Representative, 49th Legislative District
There are key decisions that need to be made regarding how our state faces some critical challenges ahead. We need leaders who will listen to us, carry forward our values and priorities, and make informed decisions. I am supporting David Carrier because he has integrity, vision, and he listens to the people of this district.
Dena Horton, Chair, Clark County Democrats
I'm proud to endorse David Carrier as our next State Senator in the 17th District. David's background is uniquely suited to solving problems for the citizens of Southwest Washington. His insights into economic development and infrastructure investment are exactly what's needed in these uncertain economic times.Chris Bassett - former Chair, Clark County Democrats
I sincerely endorse David Carrier for WA State Senate because he's smart, logical, thoughtful, ethical qualified, and overall, he's very capable. He has been nominated by his Legislative District Democratic Committee. He's an outstanding choice anytime, but especially now.Pete Aller, Chair, 17th Legislative District Democrats
Carrier provides a strong contrast to the incumbent (who earned a 0% Washington Conservation Voters score). An endorsement of Carrier and his strong environmental values would be the right message to send.
David understands leadership is about us, not him. Carrier's extensive knowledge of economics combined with his strong connection to everyday people means he will be one great Washington State Senator!John Howes, CPA- former Chair, 17th Legislative District Democrats
In all my years of civic involvement and working in the community, I have met very few people who combine a compassionate spirit together with knowledge about how the world works as well as David Carrier does. I know that he will be an advocate for all of us in Olympia, especially those who have no voice. I strongly and enthusiastically endorse David Carrier for State Senate in the 17th Legislative District.
Tom Iberle, 573 Precinct Officer, and SW WA Ecumenical Community Action Network
I'm supporting David because he truly understands the meaning of the WE in public service. He understands the plight of those less fortunate in this country and around the world. He understands how the war impacts our economy and how wrong it is to continue supporting the occupation of Iraq. He knows about problems with housing because he has been on the front lines endeavoring to make affordable housing available to people in Clark County. He knows how to listen and communicate with constituents. I am proud to know him and and know that he will represent the 17th District extremely well as its Senator in Olympia.
Marion Ward, 563 Precinct Officer, 17th L.D.
It's like a breath of fresh air to know that we can elect someone who understands what the problems are and how to do something about them. By electing David, these better things can happen. Thank you for running for Senator.
Carolyn Wolin, MoveOn Chair and 662 Precinct Officer, 17th L.D.
It is my pleasure to endorse David Carrier for the Senate representing the 17th District. He is committed to support education, human development and affordable health care. David provides many thought provoking ideas on how Clark County could benefit from renewable energy, environmental protection, and expanded regional infrastructure. It's time Olympia had an educated person representing us. It's time to elect someone who truly understands the economy- because if we simply break this down, "It's about the economy!" We don't need four more years of the same politics. It's time Clark County deserves a fresh new change. David can lead us to this change.Debora Supplitt, M.Ed., 677 Precinct Officer, 17th L.D.
David Carrier came by our house tonight to introduce himself as the 17th District Candidate for State Senator. We were immensely impressed with him as a person and his views. He is not extreme yet solidly represents the working people. We have a disabled daughter, who is 28 and still living at home. I sensed a sincere commitment to families like ours who are struggling to maneuver the social services system. David Carrier is the first politician, in a very long time, who has given us hope.Mary and Larry Sutter, 17th District voters
As a teacher of US History, I constantly strive to model to my students (as well as to my children) what it means to be involved in the wonderful blessing of being able to choose our leaders. Your visit sparked a good conversation with my daughters (and later with my wife chiming in as well) about the importance of being directly involved in the democratic process. It was a breath of fresh air to see you, flyers in hand, hoofing it through our neighborhood. That, in my estimation, says volumes about your commitment not just to getting elected, but to putting your money (or the soles of your running shoes), where your mouth is. I generally vote Republican, but after reading through your positions on your website, I am proud to say I'd like to give you my full support.

I strongly urge you to support David Carrier for the State Senate in District 17. He will serve the district well through his experience as a legislative advocate for economic and social issues.Donna Roberge, Southwest WA Ecumenical Community Action Network
David always wanted to make a difference. He spent three years in Burkina Faso after graduating from the University of Maryland. When he returned he received a scholarship from Notre Dame and worked very hard to earn his Ph.D. degree. He will work just as hard for his constituents. He will be an excellent State Senator and will make a difference. I am proud of my son!Grace Carrier, David's mother
David cares passionately for the welfare of the disadvantaged. He will strive to create greater equality of opportunity and secure a better future for those who need it most. He embodies a new era of hope and of change that life can and will be better, which this country so desperately needs today at every level of government. He will serve his constituents with spirit and integrity in this challenging time.

How lucky can the 17th District Democrates get! David is a spirited charger in all that he does. He's a man of integrity and his heart and head are together. I've known him for several years and worked with him on occassion. He's real, sees through superficialities, and isn't afraid to work hard and long for what he believes in. He can rescue the 17th from Don Benton. Go for it David! Thanks for daring to run and charge!Fr. Jack Morris, Jesuit Priest

I've learned an important lesson from climbing: the worthiest goals in life can only be achieved with the help of others. I made it to the most incredible summits only with the help of teammates who were there to bail me out if I got in trouble. Likewise, it's through the combined efforts of many caring people that our vision of a more just and compassionate society will be achieved. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who works to make this possible in their daily lives.
Vision for the future...
instead of the politics of the past.
